Turquoise Lake is a result of the former chalk quarry operations that once took place there. Before the war, locals extensively mined it until 1954. When the mining machinery fell silent, the place slowly began to fill with rainwater. This filling process took about 6 years. Finally, in 1960, the water level in the lake reached the level of the Szczecin Lagoon. The color of the lake is due to the play of light reflecting off the white chalky bottom of the lake. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. There is a parking area available for visitors.

Located on Wolin Island, within the Wolin National Park. It is situated south of the village of Wapnica in the commune of Międzyzdroje. The easiest way to reach it is from Międzyzdroje, heading south towards the village of Lubin.
