Turquoise Lake is a result of the former chalk quarry operations that once took place there. Before the war, locals extensively mined it until 1954. When the mining machinery fell silent, the place slowly began to fill with rainwater. This filling process took about 6 years. Finally, in 1960, the water level in the lake reached the level of the Szczecin Lagoon. The color of the lake is due to the play of light reflecting off the white chalky bottom of the lake. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. There is a parking area available for visitors.
